“This movie has one of my best performance” - Amisha Patel Click here to add this article to My Clips

By IndiaFM News Bureau, May 17, 2004 - 07:06 IST

She will be seen in Bobby Bedi's The Rising, Venus Films' Elaan and Vashu Bhagnani's Vaada. In an exclusive interview to IndiaFM, Amisha Patel comments on her role in Mere Jeevan Saathi, which will release around Diwali this year.

You are playing Akshay's fianc?in the movie. Tell us something more about the character.
I am playing the character of a traditional girl - Anjali. She is literally the angel of the film. The character is very pure and that makes Anjali the strength and the pillar of the movie. She is a self-respecting dignified girl who believes strongly that human beings are bound to make mistakes.

Tell us something about your first experience of working with Suneel Darshan.
It was a good experience working with Suneelji. His entire concentration was on giving me a different look in this movie. Every frame has been shot so beautifully that it has been a wonderful experience shooting for this movie. The movie showcases Indian middle-class values and would definitely turn out to be one of my best performance. It's a great pleasure being a part of such a wonderful project that was well planned with superb music and excellent locations.

The song that has been picturised on you just before the interview seems to be the turning point of the movie. Tell us something about it.
Yes. This song is one of the very important scenes of the movie. It's the amalgamation of human emotions meeting with success on some goals and failure on the others. This song is the crux of the film wherein Akshay has to decide what he is supposed to do for himself in the latter part of the movie.

Would you consider the film to be a love triangle?
Yes. The film is a love triangle with fatal attraction and sacrifice being the key elements of the movie. Mere Jeevan Saathi places a lot of emphasis on human relationships and portrays a very mature Indian understanding.

After Gadar, some of your films did well at the box office whereas others failed to show the desired results. What are your expectations for this film?
First of all it seems that you are misinformed. After Gadar, Humraaz was a big hit. Ups and Downs do happen everyday and there is no artist who can claim all his releases were hit. That happens even to a very promising film like Vaada. It would solely depend on the audience after they see the movie.

Tell us something about the other characters of the movie.
I am not going to talk about it.

We have heard that few scenes of the movie will be shot at Las Vegas. Tell us something about it.
The movie requires that kind of a foreign location to catch up an important scene between Karisma and me. There's also another scene between Karisma and Akshay that requires such an outdoor location.

Tell us something about your experience playing a rock star?
Nothing new. It was just like performing for one of the stage shows.

Music has always been a strong point in a Suneel's movie. Tell us something about the music of this film.
The music of the film is really good and would definitely prove to be one of my best musical films. Suneelji being a perfectionist has taken into consideration even the minutest detail for the beautiful picturisation of the songs.

Every creative artist looks out for a challenge in the role. Tell us something about how challenging do you find your character in this movie.
Let the film release. You shall see it for yourself.

What are your considerations while selecting a movie? Do you consider just the director, banner or script or a combination of all? Please comment.
Every film has a different reason for its selection. Sometimes it could be just one thing whereas at times it could be a combination of all.

Till date you have played different roles in different movies. Which character did you find most comfortable playing?
As an artist, experiments are always welcome. I am also very comfortable playing an Indian girl with middle-class values and am very happy to possess such an Indian sensibility.

Do you prefer playing a role with comic shades to it?
Yes. I will like to experiment in a comedy film. Yeh Hai Jalwa was a comic film but had very little scope for me to perform. I would definitely be very comfortable playing a comic character in a movie.
