Bunty is ‘Most wanted’!

Abhishek has a lot to thank Bunty.
Apparently, his role as the small-towner Bunty in Shaad Ali’s conmen on a comic riot seems to have impressed the best in the business. Abhishek’s fav filmmaker Ramgopal Varma and best bud Rohan Sippy are making films which have the dapper Bachchan as a mischievous merry maker.
While on the maverick maker, he has decided to cast Abhishek as Veeru in his mega venture, Ramgopal Varma ka Sholay. “Yes I know most people would want me to cast Abhishek as Jai, the role that his father did. But I think that is way too predictable. There is zero novelty in it for the audiences. Besides I saw Bunty and Babli and thought that he was fabulous as the conman. His deadpan humor is what I intend to use to the fullest in my film. It will be very interesting to watch Abhishek in the light-hearted role of Veeru in the film. I think audiences will get their money’s worth as far as he is concerned” the director enthuses. And guess who is going to play Jai? It’s going to be Ramu’s newfind, Mohit Ahlawat. “That’s true, Mohit will relive Bachchan’s role as the placid Jai. I think he is the most ‘complete’ hero Bollywood has seen in recent times” Varma shows his undying faith in the newcomer.
While we are on the Bunty spillover, Kuch Na Kaho director Rohan Sippy is also making a feather-light comedy, Bluffmaster which has Bachchan Jr. as the title suggests a bluffmaster. Ask Sippy if there is anything concrete that decided Abhishek for the role or was it their bachpan ki dosti-yaar that bluffed its way through? “Abhishek’s a dear friend but let me assure you that it wasn’t the jigri dosti that got him the role. I saw him in Bunty aur Babli and thought that he did a damn good job of it. That’s the reason you see him in Bluffmaster. There is a devlish streak in him which I want to tap. And what’s better when people have liked him in that avatar. Just that the doze of masti-mazak is going to be far higher this time” Rohan promises his viewers.
And guess who is going to be his partner in crime? Well, his Babli this time around is going to be Priyanka Chopra whom he recently admitted he had a crush on. So, here’s a guy who is going to have a lovely lady and the loot too!
