When Tanushree almost burnt her hair

Newcomers never have it easy in Bollywood. And there were no concessions made for Tanushree Dutta, the lead actress of Chocolate and Aashiq Banaya Aapne. No, before you let your imagination run wild, what we’re talking about is the prank that was played on her during the making of Aashiq Banaya Aapne.
While they were shooting for Chocolate, there were no pranks as such because the unit was shooting in sub-zero temperatures. According to Tanushree, “Everybody’s brains had practically stopped working!” She confesses that she tends to goof up whenever she is tensed. And the unit was tensed because the working conditions were bad due to the cold and lack of time. So in the given situation, a goof up was inevitable! Now it so happens that Tanushree’s character in the film smokes. She had maintained long tresses for this role. One of the days, while they were shooting there was some hair product on her hair that was inflammable. The scene required her to light up a cigarette. And before she knew it her hair was on fire. “For a split second, I didn’t realize what had happened. My hair was in flames! Everyone came rushing with a towel, wondering what I had done. And I was like ‘Oops I burnt my hair!’” she laughs.
So at least during Chocolate, no one deliberately played a prank on her. Her experience during Aashiq Banaya Aapne was a little different! Ask her about her experience and she says, “They kept on playing pranks throughout. Not that I minded it! In fact, after the prank, I used to be the first person to crack up. On the last day, they decided to play a mega prank on me!” She was told that there are another two hours to pack up and there was a scene to be done in slow motion. They went on to tell her that the ‘special’ kind of camera, which takes slow motion shots, was not available and she had to do the shots manually. She didn’t really understand what they said but told herself that there is no other option and it had to be done the way they had explained. Sonu, was the senior actor present on the sets. So she decided to take his advice. She recounts the funny incident, “He told me to run slowly and to make sure that my body movements were the same as they are when I run in high speed. Once, I started running, Aditya interrupted and asked me to get some emotions on my face. So I started crying and running, as I was told to do so!”
Finally after a lot of running, no one could control themselves and the entire unit just cracked up. And so did Tanushree! That’s like a good sport. After all, the prank was in pure jest!
