It's often said that 'there is more than it meets the eye' and Vikram Bhatt's Elaan proves it. While you will enjoy this slick flick once it releases, you will never imagine the real action on the film's sets during the shoots. Here are a few shocking facts about the making of Elaan.
1. Amisha had to learn to drive a left hand vehicle on dangerously slippery roads.
2. Elaan is Rahul Khanna's first action film, and hence whenever the guns and grenades would start going off, he would just blink.
3. For Elaan, Vikram Bhatt has tried a new editing style called the time line shift. It's a multi layer, non-linear style of editing which plays with the time line and has been used in India for the first time.
4. For a scene, Arjun and John had to jump from a bridge in to the canal where the water was minus 15 degree Celsius!
5. Mithun is doing something he's never done before - he's literally taken the plunge…into a Jacuzzi!
6. Elaan's first foreign schedule in Austria started off in the most horrible manner possible. Their production man there, Jacob Tritten, died of a heart attack right in front of the crew. And it was the first day of the shoot!
7. Elaan's action director, Abbas Ali Moghul, got very excited when he was doing action sequences. During the boat chase in Venice, where the speed limit was just 5 kmph, he got carried away and started shouting 'faster'. As the boats went way beyond 20- 30 kms other boats moored alongside got smashed against the walls by the force of water. After that the crew was warned not to shoot in the canals any more!
8. In a bike chase sequence in the mountains, Rahul had to jump between vehicles and he lost his balance and 75 per cent of him was hanging outside the trailer. Arjun managed to hang on to his leg and pulled him inside!
9. During a scene at the chateau, Arjun driving the Cherokee jeep had to come down a steep slope and make a sharp right turn. He was told to drive fast as a result of which Cherokee skidded out of control and landed on a cliff edge. All the five actors were in the jeep and below was a steep 500 feet drop! It was a real cliffhanger of a scene not written in the script.
10. During the shoot, three very expensive bikes, many cars and jeeps have been crashed and burst into flames. The chateau in which they shot does not have a single window or furniture that is not smashed or not marked by bullets!
