First look at Ayesha Takia and you get a feeling that this young girl has sweetness written all over her. Quite vivacious, she was visibly excited about the release of her 'Home Delivery'. Looking very much like your sweet girl next college, Ayesha Takia arrived in Spice PVR Noida for the movie's promotion where this writer got into an exclusive conversation with her.
You seem to have a very 'Socha Na Tha' look in the movie.
I am so glad that you actually noticed it. Yes, the look is again that of a simple and sweet girl who is quite innocent. 'Home Delivery' is a film where I actually get to play someone who is very much like me.
How about the movie as a whole?
You watch the movie and you would surely fall in love with it. It is very sweet, touching and would invariably bring a smile on your face. Though everyone says this for his/her movie, believe me when I say that the movie is amazingly 'different' from the kind of movies you see every week. It's not a copy of any movie or a DVD rip-off. It has an altogether new storyline that Sujoy has projected so very beautifully on screen.
You seem to be quite happy after working with Sujoy.
Oh absolutely. He has made a movie that is much ahead of its times. It is hip, cool, young and immensely likeable. His style of direction is so different and you can't even slot the movie into a musical or an emotional drama or a comedy or anything else. It would bring a smile on your face, make you cry, make you laugh - just about everything!
Which is your favorite scene in the movie?
[Promptly replies] The flashback scene between Vivek and me! It has been pretty well shot and touches your heart.
Your debut film 'Socha Na Tha' took years to hit the marquee while 'Home Delivery' has been a quickie with both being young and contemporary. This must have been a different experience overall.
'Socha Na Tha' is extremely close to me and I would always stand by it. It was such a nice movie by Imtiaz Ali [director]. It was a great experience. Home Delivery meanwhile was shot in a short span of time and we had fun every day.
So if you have to actually compare Sujoy with Imtiaz, how would you go about it?
Oh, both have extremely different style of direction! They have an interesting way of presenting a story on screen. I am sure if Sujoy directs 'Socha Na Tha' and Imtiaz directs 'Home Delivery', they would do them in altogether different ways. They are so distinct from each other.
So with all these hip movies happening, what really prompted you to do 'Shaadi No. 1'?
Well, it sounded fun for sure. And then David Dhawan wanted me to be a part of this project. Now I am also doing 'Shaadi Se Pehle' with Satish Kaushik that is again a fun multi-starrer.
You seem to be fascinated with 'Shaadi'! 'Shaadi No. 1', 'Shaadi Se Pehle' and then in 'Socha Na Tha' too you elope to get married!
[Giggles] Ya, that seems to be happening to me quite often. Watch out for me in my forthcoming movies!
