Gangster: Promo Watch

The Bhatt camp is one movie studio in Bollywood where the lights never go off throughout the year. Used to churning film after film and on completely diverse themes from one another, they are up with their next offering Gangster, the promos of which were recently shown in the Kalyug screenings. And while Kalyug had pornography as its theme, Gangster is based on the underworld.
The trailer opens with the Arial shots of the terrace of a skyscraper in Seoul with Shiny Ahuja pointing his gun towards Emran Hashmi. Continuing the trend of introducing new faces, this film too marks the debut of a new actress in Bollywood - Kangna. Shiny Ahuja scuttles through the streets of Seoul with this new girl. The soulful track that runs in the background “Naa Jaane Koi… Hamari Adhuri Kahani” is simply mesmerizing. When it comes to music, the Bhatts never go wrong.
Cops, blood, gore and action follows as Kangna is shown nose-diving from the skyscraper terrace in the first frame of the trailer that continues in montages till she reaches the ground.
As the trailer terminates it reads an interesting tagline
“She fell in love… the day she betrayed him” - quite a self-contradictory statement! And while one would have expected the movie logo of Gangster showing some guns and gore, it on the very contrary concludes on a peaceful note amidst tranquil maple leaves.
Gangster is the same film which was first offered to Pakistani bowler Shoaib Akhtar who subsequently refused the role. Rumors were abuzz that the film is loosely based on the life of crime-master Abu Salem but the makers have refuted the allegations. A Mahesh Bhatt presentation, Gangster is directed by Anurag Basu of 'Murder' fame.
