Yakeen: Promo Watch
By Gaurav Malani, April 13, 2005 - 08:17 IST
Cast: Arjun Rampal, Priyanka Chopra, Kim Sharma and Saurabh Shukla
Trailer duration: 2 minutes, 57 seconds
Girish Dhamija, dialogue writer from the Bhatt camp, progresses towards direction with Shreya Creations Yakeen. And while Dhamija has written dialogues for almost all Vikram Bhatt's directorial ventures (Kasoor, Raaz, Footpath, Aetbaar, Bardaasht, etc), this time the roles are sort of reversed wherein Vikram Bhatt has written the screenplay of Dhamija's directorial debut. The movie stars the Asambhav pair of Arjun Rampal and Priyanka Chopra who 'possibly' should sizzle the screen this time around with their smooth screen chemistry.
The trailer opens with Arjun Rampal's rugged granular soliloquy “Kisi pe yakeen karne se pehle zaroori hai, khud par yakeen karna”. Cut two - a car plummets from a height crashing down the hillside, turning into a total wreck.
Arjun Rampal plays a young business tycoon in Himachal, married to Priyanka Chopra. Though it's a happy marriage, their relationship is seemingly devoid of that closeness which represents the ideal bonding. The duo meets with a car accident. An accident that saved a life… but changed it forever! While the wife escapes relatively unscathed in the mishap, the husband is in an extremely critical state. Doctors claim that he has gone into psychogenic amnesia, which means severe loss of memory.
This turbulent phase in their life draws the couple closer with her love and care exhibited whilst nursing him back to near normalcy. But with new characters flashing in the trailer in the form of Kim Sharma and Saurabh Shukla the husband starts suspecting his wife's fidelity. He is made to believe that his marriage was on the verge of breakup prior to the accident. So he hires the services of a private investigator but that just adds to his mayhem as he is confronted with more and more unpleasant truths.
Now he seeks his past…
A past that became his destiny.
While the proceedings in the trailer casts a negative light on Priyanka's loyalty towards her husband, it ends in a U-turn with Priyanka's somber line, “Koi bhi rishta pati patni ke yakeen se badhke nahi hota”. Is she faithful?
Yakeen (meaning faith) will answer the question.
