By IndiaFM News Bureau, June 28, 2005 - 02:34 IST
None of her counterparts can boast of a career graph like that of hers, in mere two years. Hits, plum offers and millions of fans; this latest Masala matinee idol couldn't ask for more! She knows that there is room for only one on the top and she is packed to get there. That's Priyanka Chopra for you! Riding high on yet another success Waqt, Priyanka is her confident and composed best as she speaks to IndiaFM about her upcoming movie Yakeen.
You struck gold yet again with Waqt. How does it feel to be a part of one of biggest hit of 2005?
Well I am glad, of course when your film does well and when your work is appreciated it feels good. Waqt is a special film because it makes you believe in relationships when it comes to your family.
Give us an insight into your character in the movie?
In Yakeen I play Simar who loves her husband more than she should. She is very possessive about him and an excess of anything can be bad, in a nutshell that's the story of Yakeen. It starts as a love story and eventually unfolds a thriller.
What is about the movie that kicks you totally?
The story, everything has a spine to it and the spine of this film is its story. Its very fast paced and it has a lot going for itself. The performances are really nice, everyone's performed really well and the story is told very quickly which is very nice.
On one hand you are working with all seasoned filmmakers and on one hand you have Girish Dhamija as a debut director? How different is the experience?
Not much actually, even though I expected Girsihji to be a little unsure about what he wanted, he wasn't at all, he was totally confident about what he wanted. He is one of the very few directors I have worked with who can derive performances, it happens after much seasoning and experience but with him it happened in his first film.
How true is that you suggested Arjun for this movie?
No they went to Arjun themselves, I didn't suggest anyone.
This is the second film with Arjun. How was the equation?
Arjun's fantastic, I love working with him, he's been great to work with. This film has been Arjun's best performance, I would definitely say that undoubtedly. We have this love-hate relationship, we fight with each other, and we laugh with each other but Arjun is a very sweet person basically it boils down to that and we got along really well.
How was the equation with Kim?
Kim was a lot of fun to work with, she was very protective about me and she always helped me, like I was ill one time and she called for medicines for me. I really enjoyed working with her.
One movie amongst all the biggies that you are doing that you are totally excited about?
I am kicked off about each film that I have signed this year. I am proud of each role, all of them are completely different from each other and I am looking forward to 2006 completely.
