Guru |
Continuing to stay at the top of the charts, ‘Guru’ brings on
happy times for A.R. Rahman. These has been a particularly great phase for the composer since his songs from ‘Rang De Basanti’
and ‘Water’ are making waves at the Oscars too!
|
‘Ek Lo Ek Muft’ and ‘Baazi Laga’ are not much impressive
audio-wise and may only do well if integrated seamlessly with the flow of the film! |

Dhoom 2 |
Historic response to the film has ensured that the music
continues to be popular with the masses who love to listen to techno music. This is yet another hit musical score by Pritam who
would be elated with the response because despite the average reviews the album received, he was doubly confident about the
sales hitting the bulls’ eye!
|
The music may have been a hit but one would expect a
much happening score from the team if ‘Dhoom 3’ indeed gets made. |

Don - The Chase Begins Again |
The album continues to be in the Top-5 of the charts even
after the film has completed 8 weeks at the box office and is now showing signs of a satisfied exit from the theatres.
|
The music has always enjoyed a Top-3 position in the charts
a week after it came (when it debuted on #10 and moves straight to #1 in its second week) but SEI looks all set to displace it next
week. Ironical since both films have music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy. |

Salaam-E-Ishq |
Even last week it was pretty obvious that ‘Salaam-E-Ishq’
would be finding a place in Top-5 in a week’s time. That has indeed happened as it moves up a couple of spots to reach #4. After
the title song ‘Salaam E Ishq’, ‘Mera Dil’ is en route to be a sure shot hit too as the promos keep you glued to the small screen. A
winning soundtrack!
|
Not for those who are searching for an unconventional
soundtrack that breaks away from being feel-good. |

Woh Lamhe |
Unmoved by all the competition around it, ‘Woh Lamhe’
sticks on to its # 5 position. In the hindsight it appears that the songs took some time to peak and if only they were as popular during
the release of the film as they are now, it may have been a different box office story for the film.

Bas Ek Pal |
Dropping down by a couple of spots, ‘Bas Ek Pal’ still
maintains more or less consistent sales and should continue to do so over the weeks with a renewed publicity campaign by TIPS.
After making waves with the most successful song of the album, ‘Tere Bin’, composer Mithoon and singer Atif are back with their
brand new single for the album ‘Doori’, which again promises to be a success story for the music company.

Kabul Express |
With the help of one single number ‘Kabul Fiza’, YRF has
ensured that the music of their latest release ‘Kabul Express’ gets a good visibility at the music stands.
|
Though ‘Kabul Fiza’ has been promoted decently, it is
surprising that none of the other tracks have been featured at least as music videos on the small screen. |

Bhagam Bhag |
‘Bhagam Bhag’ returns back to #8 after a slip last week
and now can boast of its title song ‘Bhagam Bhag’ being another hit after ‘Signal’. Children in particular are dancing to the beats of
these two rhythmic tracks that are good enough reasons to ensure that the promos are on full steam across all music channels.
|
Music isn’t as exciting as Priyan-Pritam last outing ‘Garam
Masala’

Anwar |
His ‘Matrabhumi’ may have suffered from negligible
promotion but director Manish Jha would be delighted to see the response his ‘Anwar’ is getting due to a couple of songs by
Mithoon that are enjoying patronage by those who love to listen to some unconventional yet exciting melodies.
|
There is not much to look forward beyond the two tracks
‘Maula Mere’ and Tose Naina Laage’ since the other composer, Pankaj Awasthi, has gone truly unconventional |

Baabul |
The album continues to hang on in the charts only due to the
fact that there has been no new release since ‘Salaam-E-Ishq’. If ‘Babul’ turns into a ‘Baghban’ at the box office, the soundtrack
sales may just about manage to show some improvement in sales.
|
The film is struggling at the box office and that is reflecting
even in the charts as the album falls down by a couple of places for second week in succession. |
