Promo Watch: 1971
By IndiaFM News Bureau, February 5, 2007 - 09:57 IST
The war of 1971 between India and Pakistan had devastating after-effects. Everyone has heard of it but the soldiers held back by the rival country
were the ones who actually suffered the most.
The promo on the film 1971 starts with the shots of India-Pakistan war. The voiceover says that a lot had been said about this war and it’s after
effects but very few people actually bore its consequences. History has proven that no one gets benefited by the war and similar was the case with
this one.
After the war of 1971, the arrested Indian soldiers were to be sent back to their homeland as per the international law, but it never happened. They
were held back and that is the theme of this film. The journalists report that they have seen at least 70 Indian soldiers held back as Prisoners of War
in Pakistan. Manoj Bajpai, Ravi Kissen and Deepak Dobriyal along with few others are those entrapped soldiers. But they are not going to give into
the rival forces. They plan to escape from Pakistan and return to India. But their biggest challenge is to dodge the intelligence and the security
forces who are keeping a watch on them all the time.
Will they be able to escape from the prisons? Will they be able to cross the border? Will they get back to India again? These are the questions the
promo of 1971 raises.
This Sagar Arts productions is presented by Studio 18 and is directed by Amrit Sagar.
