"Remakes don't interest me much" - Indra Kumar

It’s said that ‘A Rose by any other name, remains a rose’. Likewise, a successful director by any other name remains a successful director. The
statement holds totally true for Indra Kumar, the man with the ‘midas touch’ who has to his credit giving musical hits like Dil, Beta, Ishq,
Masti etc…Even though he is the brother of the famous Aruna Irani, it did not take time for this man, who started off with Gujarati stage, to
carve a niche for him in Bollywood.
The spotlights are on him as he is on the hot seat as the director of the much-acclaimed comedy caper Dhamaal, starring Sanjay Dutt,
Aashish Choudhary, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey.
Indra Kumar was live on IndiaFM's Celebrity Chat, where he interacted with his fans. Here are some excerpts from the same.

Diya: Hi. What are your expectations with ‘Dhamaal’ and what’s your next venture?
Indra Kumar: I want Dhamaal to be superhit. And for my next venture, I will let u know soon.
Tantu: While capturing a one shot scenes, do u prefer to use jimmy jib or steady cam?
Indra Kumar: That depends on the requirement of the shot

Indra Kumar: Nick, I think he should be pardoned.
Diya: Are you going to come up with any serious movie?? What do you think about serious films?
Indra Kumar: Seriously, I am not thinking any serious movie right now
Shiplu: Who is your favorite actress? Any particular person you want to work with?
Indra Kumar: Madhuri Dixit, I would love with her again
Shiplu: Can you please confirm are u making Dhamaal 2?
Indra Kumar: Definitely Ill be making Dhamaal 2. Btw, should I or not...give your view.
Diya: do you have any regrets about ‘Pyaare Mohan’? Do u think it did not manage to catch much attention?
Indra Kumar: Ya, I wish I had made a better film.
Dilfaraz: How was Arshad Warsi? I heard that he has been very unprofessional now a days?
Indra Kumar: With me, Arshad was quite ok.
Tantu: Can u please enlighten me the concept of rough cut and final cut??
Indra Kumar: Tantu, rough cut is loosely edited and final cut is tightly edited.
Priya64: Were all the actors Ritesh, Javed, Aashish, Arshad and Sanjay Dutt your first choices for the roles?
Indra Kumar: Ya, they were my first choices for the roles.
Dilfaraz: While shooting for ISHQ there were some problems with Aamir and Juhi?
Is it true?
Indra Kumar: Yes, but that was sorted out.
Shiplu: Why did u cast Aashish, any particular reason there were other choices too y?
Indra Kumar: Because I liked him as an actor.
Sam: Javed was a great choice... I think he should do more movies! You really made people go laughing crazy with this movie Dhamaal.

Tantu : After shooting a film in sync sound, during editing how do u adjust the pace of the film at times the video move ahead and
audio comes later, as their is no scope for dubbing, then how do you manage??
Indra Kumar: The sound runs 19 frames ahead of picture
Rock: Indraji, how did u feel while making DHAMAAL? Any particular incidents that u could share with us?
Indra Kumar: While we were shooting for the plane sequence it was quite risky
Tassie Devil: I hope the movie comes to Hobart, Australia do u plan to release it here too?
Indra Kumar: It’s already released in Brisbane.
Priya64: how did the concept of ‘Masti’ come to you?
Indra Kumar: Milap Zaveri and Tushaar Hiranandani both were the writers who came up with the idea

Indra Kumar: They were excellent, but, I failed as director.

Indra Kumar: Yes. Ashokji usually contributes in direction.
Rock: How was it to have Sanjay Dutt for the preview since no one was sure he would make it?
Indra Kumar: He is the first grade actor and a great human being
