0 of 2 people found this review helpful The film resorts to all sorts of gimmickry from a sari-clad rain song in the studio-shower to a sleazy nautanki item number and an action packed finale. But each one acts as a failed formula...

0 of 1 people found this review helpful Coming close on the heels of some really good films, both Hindi and English, Mehbooba's timing could not have been worse. The makers must be crazy to think there'll be any takers for this trash.

Sanjay Dutt looks young and natty. Manisha Koirala is slim and trim. Kader Khan is still around. And Ajay Devgan is callow and boyish. Well, it doesn't take long for you to guess the time period of this of the film.

Director Afzal Khan handles the proceedings well but the story by Rumi Jaffrey is outdated. Also the film drawing tremendous resemblance to 'Hum Dil Chuke Sanam' offers nothing new from Ajay Devgan. The similar drunk sequences, the same lines of returning the heroine back to her first love etc.

Mehbooba is an ordinary love triangle that culminates in one of them sacrificing himself to pay for his 'sins' and get away from the exquisite pain of love.

The story telling technique is unsure and borrowed from films like Saajan. The original bits make you wish the director had stuck to copying.

MEHBOOBA is a film that was stuck in the can for a long time and even if it were released 10 years ago, that particular dialogue would still stink.

'Mehbooba' is a revelation – a depressing one, however. It is a film that leaves you embarrassed with the thought that Hindi cinema used to be so underdeveloped just a decade ago.

Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Manisha Koirala - none of them can be called bad actors very easily. But, Sanjay and Ajay desperately fight the "who's got worse teeth?" war.
