  Music Reviews
By Joginder Tuteja, October 8, 2004 - 12:46 IST

'Kiss Kis Ko ' is a film featuring 'Band Of Boys' as themselves. Starring Sudhanshu Pandey, Chin2 Bhosle, Karan Oberoi, Siddharth Haldipur, and Sherrin Verghese with Bhoomika Puri, KKK is a Raam Punjabi - Manu Kumaran production directed by debutant Sharad Saran. The film has a fresh and lively look. Vikesh Mehta has directed the music for the film along with the Band of Boys.

Opening number is, as expected, the popular single ' Meri Neend Udh Gayi Hai ' composed by Leslie Lewis that made 'Band Of Boys' the stars they are today. A foot tapping youthful track, it should now be even more popular than before because of it being featured in the movie. The picturization, like the video, is good even in the film version and makes for an enjoyable viewing.

Following number ' Jo Dil Chahe ' is a perfect follow-up to the opening track. Sung and composed by Band Of Boys, its lyrics, mood, cinematography and choreography does remind of the title song from ' Dil Chahta Hai ', but overall the song holds good for itself and should create a place of it's own. Jo Dil Chahe is much more pacy and has a rhythm that makes for an ideal beach song. Yes, the number is composed as a pop track but one shouldn't mind that as long as it makes one stand up and dance. And this is where the number, succeeds in. A little more punch is needed in the publicity of this number that should make this one reach the charts.

' Dhun Tunak Dhun ' continues the fun mood with a message about living each and every moment in life. 'Band Of Boys' infuse good energy in this track that is based around Indian melody and rhythm. 'Dholak' is used to good effect and the song should be popular amongst kids and teenagers.

' Ho Jaaye ', that comes next is about opportunities one gets in life and how full advantage should be taken of these opportunities. The music is easy on ears but becomes a bit preachy and word heavy in its flow, hence does not succeeds in striking a chord. Yes, the number may appeal to those who love pop music, but this is what it may limit itself to.

The first time you hear a female vocal is in ' Kaisa Hai Ye Jaadu ' that is a soft and simple love melody. Lavinya provides good background parallel to the vocals of all the men and later joins herself and impresses in the very start with her sweet voice. A number that should be set on a moonlit beachside with a bonfire surrounded by youngsters, it makes one swoon in love. This number is of kind that has a potential to be sung along to your beloved. A winner!!

The rock number ' Hum Aur Tum ' sounds predictable after a good start and later settles down to be average. A definite stage number, it is a good hear but doesn't have the ammunition to set the charts ablaze.

Lyricist Sachin Tyagi writes the jazzy number ' Sama Gayi Meri Dhadkan Mein ' that is composed as a vintage western number with violins, tap dance, drum beats and the works. Singing and chorus is also akin to the 50s style and the number does sound interesting.

Concluding number ' Mast Kalandar ' is the best way to conclude the album, as it is a rocking track with enough power to set the mood rolling. Sunidhi Chauhan, who is kept on hold for just this number justifies her presence in this hot'n'happening composition that has an Arabian touch. This number has been solely composed by Vikesh Mehta. Written by P.K.Mishra, it is shot in a classy manner and doesn't have any sign of vulgarity that could have easily come along with a number of this genre. As this item number progresses, Sunidhi changes her pitch amazingly well (as she is so very capable of doing) and impresses yet again.

Don't wait for the numbers to be beamed a hundred times a day on the music channels or any word of mouth. KKK offers much more than what one expected from a film that had a pop group acting and composing the music Just go and get it for the sheer honesty and simplicity in the music.
