' Mazaa Mazaa ' is a glaring example of how fast an idea travels. Within a year of Hollywood flick '13 Going on 30' being released, producer Ramesh K Doshi and director T.L.V. Prasad come up with a 'desi' version of the same movie as ' Mazaa Mazaa '. T.L.V. Prasad, who worked with Mithun Chakravorty in quite a number of movies during his 'Ooty-wood' phase struck gold with skin flick ' Tauba Tauba ' last year. Teaming up with the same lead heroine Payal Rohatgi, he also introduces Shivani in ' Mazaa Mazaa ' that has music by Arun Daga, Satish-Ajay and John Hunt. Vishwajeet Pradhan, Farid Amiri, Pankaj Beri and Tej Sapru are in supporting roles.
Title song ' Mazaa Mazaa ' by Sunidhi Chauhan is a club dance number where the lead protagonist is shown to be having a rollicking time with her friends. A fast paced number, it has ordinary lyrics but they get compensated by the western arrangements that camouflage this blemish and keeps the listener interested and on his feet. For an album like this with zero expectations, even an above-average dance track like this seems quite impressive.
' Ankhh Lada Re ' blends the Middle East music with western arrangements and relies on high pitch rendition. Results nevertheless are not too great and the number settles down to be yet another hot'n'sensual song that does not make any contribution to Bollywood music scene. In spite of a repeat appearance as a ' Remix ' by Sonu Kakkar (of Babuji Zara Dheere Chalo fame) that follows soon, there is no renewed interest in the song.
' Hawa Mein Udna Chahe Ye Dil ' is the first track that genuinely impresses and works due to its soft approach. Tune is quite good while the female rendition is spirited as well. A song about a girl feeling good about life and aiming to live and enjoy life, it is the lyrics that further give boost to the proceedings and makes one engrossed in the narrative. A sweet song, this is the only number in the album so far that could fit on any other major star as well in a bigger Bollywood flick.
' Dil Mein Kyo Aisi Chubhan Hai ' brings the album back to the basics and follows the routine grind of seduction. A very basic tune coupled by ordinary vocals (especially the male voice by music composer Arun Daga), it is no ' Zara Zara ' ( Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein ) and fails to invoke any desires! A complete let down!
With skin flicks falling like nine-pins during last 6 months and Payal's ' Fun-Can Be Dangerous Sometimes ' and ' Laila ' in recent times too meeting with sub-ordinary response, one wonders which direction would ' Mazaa Mazaa ' go! The same can be said about the music of the film that is, at maximum, present in the movie because a Bollywood film is not complete without it. This is the reason that why expect for a couple of tunes, none of the other tunes are worth a second listening.
There is hardly any 'mazaa' in 'Mazaa Mazaa' !!
