Last year Sajid-Wajid had delivered a big hit in the form of Partner. Towards the end of the year, their title song for Welcome too was an added attraction for the album which otherwise had music by Himesh Reshammiya and Anand Raaj Anand. However, now when their Zindagi Tere Naam has hit the stands, there has been zilch hype or hoopla around it.
For a movie that came pretty close to release a few weeks back only to withdraw at the last minute, Zindagi Tere Naam that brings together Mithun Chakraborty and Ranjeeta all over again is now waiting for its arrival on the big screen. Coming back to the music of the film, Zindagi Tere Naam has lyrics by Jalees Sherwani. Even though there are known names involved with the film, there aren't any expectations from the music since the initial set of promos have been downright boring while the makers too haven't been able to create any buzz about the product.
Name KK always promises something extra special. However, this time around even he can't do much to a tune which is downright boring and doesn't really strike a chord. Though Sajid-Wajid attempt a sentimental outing for the love song 'Tu Mujhe Soch Kabhi', there isn't any excitement factor in it. Sajid-Wajid try to play simple with this opening number but the end result is not enticing at all.
The song that follows sticks to the genre similar to that of 'Milne Ko Nahi Aaye' in terms of it's pace and setting. Even though Shaan sings this track about a man pining for his love to make an appearance, the song design is such that it reminds one of many a rendition like this done by Abhijeet in the past. There is fair dose of English interlude in the number too but the tune is yet again so dull that 'Milne Ko…' turns out to be second forgettable number in a row. The number appears thrice in the album, first as a Shaan-Sunidhi Chauhan duet and later as a solo track each by the two singers.
Faiz Anwar is the guest lyricist for 'Trishna Trishna Dil' which brings with it a different flavor. Sung by Amanat Ali Khan and Shafqat, this is one of the weakest numbers if it has to be categorized as a peppy-n-rhythmic song. The number has Western influences to it but the overall effect is so listless that one wonders whether Sajid-Wajid were indeed serious when handing over the music to the makers of Zindagi Tere Naam?
By the time 'Ajnabee Sa Lagta Hai' arrives, you know that there is nothing at all to be looked forward to in Zindagi Tere Naam. A duet by Sunidhi Chauhan and Wajid Khan, the number follows 'Trishna Trishna Dil' in terms of pace and setting and the results are similar too. A listless tune which has nothing in it to be given a second hearing, 'Ajnabee' makes one hurriedly play on the remaining two tracks.
A 'qawalli' follows next that has Afzal Sabri and Richa Sharma coming together for 'Kya Khata Ho Gayee'. The track is passable at the least and its rhythm allows one to give it a hear or two. It is a kind of intense number which could possibly be created for the situation towards the film's climax.
Finally arrives the only redeeming part of this out and out boring album. 'Tauba Tauba' is the number which was promoted decently around a month back with Dia Mirza hogging all the limelight. Roped in for a guest appearance in a dance number, Dia at least manages to engage the audience. Sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, this item number does have obvious reference points to 'It's Rocking' [Kya Love Story Hai], especially in the way Wajid Khan renders his lines.
Overall, Zindagi Tere Naam is yet another forgettable album this season which won't find any takers. In spite of the presence of Sajid-Wajid, the music here just doesn't have any energy or emotion to keep the listener involved. An easy skip!
