Shri Adhikari Brothers have been a popular name when it comes to Television. Be it spine-chilling thrillers or rib tickling comedies, they have always made their presence felt in last decade or so. With ' Wajahh ', they make their foray into the world of Bollywood cinema. Produced by Markand Adhikari and Anand Pandit, ' Wajahh ' is a musical thriller directed by Gautam Adhikari that stars Arbaaz Khan, Gracy Singh and Shamita Shetty. Anand Raaj Anannd handles both the music and the lyrics department.
ARA takes inspiration from his younger brother Harry Anand for ' Yeh Zamana ' that is based on 'calypso' theme. Sunidhi Chauhan excels in her yet another item number that is choreographed on Shamita Shetty. Rap track by Bob that goes in parallel heightens the effects of this experiment number that succeeds. A dance floor number, it sets the feet tapping.
Daler Mehandi fans would be pleased with the philosophical number ' Agar Zindagi Se ' that is about love and life. Choreographed on Daler himself, it boasts of rich vocals (as expected) and some good lyrical value provided by ARA himself. This one is for the situation and fits perfectly well there. Another foot tapping number that sets the ball rolling.
After two catchy songs comes the haunting solo ' Sapna Koi ' by Shreya Ghoshal. A soft mellowed down number, it has just guitar in the background and makes for a quite hearing. Another situational song about this lady who gets haunting dreams that scare her, it is not of the kind that you will sing to a group but won't mind it playing in the background.
First romantic number in the album comes in the shape of ' Wada Yeh Kar Saathiya ' by Shreya Ghoshal and Anand Raaj Anannd. Written by Pravind Bhardwaj, it attempts at being seductive but does just about OK. The number has slight shades of ' Do Lafzon Ki Hai ' from ' The Great Gambler ', but at maximum can be just called as an 'inspiration'!
ARA does an all-rounder show in singing the Sufi track ' Teri Di Ko ' that is again catchy, just like ' Yeh Zamana ' and ' Agar Zindagi '. This one is again of a kind that you may not listen for ages but will give it an ear while it is being played. A pacy track, it also appears in a 'Karaoke' version that turns a bit loud on its way.
Kunal Ganjawala's ' Koi Na Koi Wajah To Hogi ' that comes towards the end is a good track musically but then it is purely situational. It is mainly a track about 'Oh God, there would be some 'wajahh' (reason), due to which you made love and lovers!'
Strength of the music of Wajahh lies in its situational tracks like ' Yeh Zamana ', ' Agar Zindagi ' and ' Teri Did Ko ', all of which are rich compositions. Lack of star value and low production design may be a couple of hindrance factors but quality music and word of mouth publicity should help the album sail through to an extent.
