As we all go through our daily routine of what we commonly term as LIFE, there hides a generous slice of humour, which we more than often tend to ignore, oversee or frankly never have the time to even notice.

JHANKAAR BEATS is a musical comedy, which explores the humorous side of life. It is also the story of normal individuals, faced with normal challenges in life, trying desperately to balance their personal and professional lives, coping with failures and aiming for success.

JHANKAAR BEATS is the story of three couples, each in a different stage of their personal relationship.

Deep (Sanjay Suri) is happily married to Shanti (Juhi Chawla) and has a small daughter Muskaan. Shanti is expecting yet again and is in her seventh month of pregnancy. To lend Shanti a helping hand, her mother is coming to stay with her, which is a Herculean challenge for Deep.

Right now, Deep is mentally preparing himself to spend the next two months with his mother-in-law.

Deep's best friend, Rishi (Rahul Bose), is not having much luck in his marriage – he has just broken up with his wife Nicky (Rinke Khanna). Rishi's self-created personal image does not allow him to appear upset or disturbed over any issue. As a result Rishi is trapped in his own web and has no option but to go through his divorce.

Right now, Rishi is preparing himself to attend the first legal meeting with Nicky.

Deep and Rishi are advertising executives by the day and musicians by the night. For the past two years, they have been losing a music contest called 'Jhankaar Beats'. With time, winning has become an ego issue and this year both of them are determined to win.

JB is only two months away and right now both of them need to practice hard for the contest and find a guitarist for their band.

Deep and Rishi have also been assigned a project for winning a prestigious product launch campaign. Their jobs are at stake if they lose the account. Their competing firm is owned by the most gorgeous, sensual, beautiful, voluptuous woman on earth and she will be trying every trick in the book to snatch the project from them.

Right now, both of them need to work twenty five hours a day to win the campaign.

In their lives comes a management trainee from New York, Neel (Shayan Munshi), the son of Deep and Rishi's boss. He is assigned to work on the same project as Deep and Rishi. Neel is also a guitarist who is in love with Preeti (Riya Sen), but doesn't have the courage tell her so. Neel is running against time as his father has given him a deadline of two months to find a girl of his choice.

Right now, Neel is desperate for a plan to win Preeti's heart.

This is the story of how in the next two months Deep has to cope with his mother-in-law, Rishi has to sort out his divorce problems and Neel has to talk to Preeti. All of them together have to win the campaign and the 'Jhankaar Beats' contest but more importantly, the three men have to decide whether winning is everything in life.

JHANKAAR BEATS tell the story of three men with one common dream, coping with successes and failures and facing life with a smile on their face.

JHANKAAR BEATS co-stars Shashikala, Vijayendra Ghatge, Archana Puransingh, Parmeet Sethi, Dinyar Contractor and Raja Vaid.

Produced by Rangita Pritish Nandy and directed by Sujoy Ghosh, the film is slated for release in January 2003.
