This is the story of three prisoners on death row - Jaggu, a lawyer and a poet, Nagya, a man angry with the whole world and Ishaan, a happy-go-lucky charmer who lives to be free. They form a bond becoming friends for whatever period at time fate will award them.
The prison warden, Mohan, is a man who believes in complete reformation and sees prisons as a home for people and not as cages for animals. He strives to build a unique system for prisoners.
Nagya believes that he was wrong convicted and truth will prevail. Jaggu is sentenced to die and accepts his fate willingly. Ishaan knows he will never walk a free man again and sets out to do what he does best - find a 'patli gali' to escape.
Enter Chandrika, a documentary filmmaker wants to make a film about the three men. She is imprisoned by personal shackles - an abusive husband and a painful past. Slowly, a bond begins to form between the three men and Chandrika, as they realize that in some inexplicable way, they are linked to each other.
As Jaggu walks to the gallows, Ishaan decides to break out of jail. Does Jaggu survive? Does Ishaan escape? What is Chandrika's past? Is Nagya innocent and how are their fates linked? These are questions that are answered as the film builds to its nail-biting climax.
Teen Deewarein is a bittersweet drarna-thriller about friendship, hope and learning to survive in a world within a world.
Enslaved by three walls,
The fourth, a barrier in my will.
Break it I must, leaving behind a hollowness,
Sighs and screams begging to be free.
But free I am, free is my mind.
