Vasant Chedda's DANGER is inspired by Andy and Larry Wachowski's English flick BOUND (1996).
The story primarily revolves around three characters – Nainesh (Ashutosh Rana), the Mafia Don's accountant, Unnati (Tara Deshpande), his mistress and Saurav (Jas Arora), Unnati's lover. Unnati plans to decamp with Rs. 2 crores (in Nainesh's custody) with the help of Saurav. And how she succeeds in her mission, is what the film is all about.
Full of artfully shot scenes, DANGER gives your right brain something to feast on, while the left tries to work out who's double-crossing who.
The plot is loaded with the unexpected. Until the final scenes, it's impossible to be sure of anyone or anything. The biggest question that is raised by the characters and stays with us is, who can be trusted?
From the opening moments to the closing shot, DANGER offers an edge-of-the-seat experience.
But the film is not without faults. The makers have aimed the film at the gentry/Balcony audience. The treatment is too stylish and importantly, it lacks the staple diet of an avid Indian cinegoer, ingredients such as songs and light moments.
Technically, the cinematography, sound effects and shot execution stand out. Dialogues are perfect.
The film gets a major boost due to the efficient performances. Ashutosh Rana is superb in a role that fits him like a glove. Tara Deshpande excels, more so towards the latter part. Jas Arora delivers a fine performance.
On the whole, DANGER is more of a city film that will find patronage at metros mainly. Its business will taper down as it moves from cities to towns.
