Not a bad try by Himesh. It's a great hear, but I don't think it's as mindblowing as Aksar, Aahista Aahista or 36 China Town. His RED start would have made him RED ON THE FACE, barring "Afreen". "NAMASTEY LONDON" proved to get him big bucks mainly because of the Mehfil Mixed tracks by Javed Akhtar, a thing which Himesh Reshammiya was inspired to do after "AAP KI KHATIR" (read Aaap Ki Khatir Unplugged). Though Himesh has never been able to recreate the success and magic of AKSAR, AAHISTA AAHISTA, AAPKA SURROORR THE ALBUM, an 36 CHINA TOWN, this can surely be rated as a great album, something far better than his previous mediocre releases such as RED, AAP KI KHATIR, ROCKY, DIL DIYA HAI, ANTHONY KAUN HAI and PHIR HERA PHERI, in which all songs sounded like a reincarnation of each other, making it a flat affair. Overall, though this review might get somewhat discouraging, I insist all the people to get up, walk their way to the nearest music store and buy the album, as, really, Himesh has made his way through the criticism of the normal as well as the media related public. I simply loved the album, and I guess if I liked it, then you people surely will, as it is one great album after NAMASTEY LONDON in the 2007 HR collection.
Speaking about the songs, I loved Shakalaka Boom Boom as the best song. Though it had a similar feel to Aashiqui (36CT), it was way better than it. It's remix was even better and got me dancing on my feet, on the word go. There were other great songs like Naamumkin, Thaare Vaaste and their remixes which I really loved to hear. But I seriously hated Dil Lagaayenge, as it was a flat fare, and turned out to be the oddman out in the otherwise decent compilation. The remix didn't do anything to improve upon matters either. It is because of these songs that I felt that it went short of matching his previous decent works. What I am trying to say is that, it fell short of the AKSAR classic, really, andthis song shouldn't have been included in the album at all.
There were five short songs which were really good to hear. All of these songs were put into a MEDLEY REMIX which made things even better.
Overall, barring Dil Lagaayenge, the album rocks, and if the song wouldn't have been there, I say, I would have been better than AKSAR or Namastey London.
Well, by far, this is the first HR album of 2007 I really liked listening to.
Overall, a must buy, and a must hear, AND in the repeat mode as well. Really.
