A strong word-of-mouth publicity made me really inquisitive about "jaane tu...." and i decided to download a torrent of this movie.I was not sure if i was gonna like it , but by the time the movie ended,i was all smiles!!!!
Abbas Tyrewalla successfully manages to capture the pulse of the youth,following the likes of Farhan Akhtar(DCH),Rakesh Mehra(RDB) and Imtiaz Ali(JWM).My initial reaction after watching the pic was - "Boy! its so real!!".And that's the USP of this gentle breeze of an entertainer;the characters of the pic appear so real that one can easily relate them to real life people.The story is though not completely a new one, but the treatment is so beautiful that it made me say "WOW!!!!!!!!!"
PLOT - Imran and Genelia are college frndz,who appear to be the perfect match for each other to everyone.Except that they don't think so! They're convinced that they're each others best frnd but nothing more than that,until they try to find their perfect life partner,messing it all,ultimately realizing that their true love was so close to them that they didn't realize its presence!!!!
PERFORMANCES -
GENELIA - That's what i was chanting when the film ended....COMPLETE REVELATION!!!!! Her acting is so natural,her dialogue delivery,her expressions,her smile,her anger,her innocence,her confusion....it can make anyone fall for her! Her eyes speak! She has made a mark for herself with this pic....someone to watch out for!!!

IMRAN - He was not that impressive in the promos,but he delivers a rock-solid performance! Gals are already drooling over his choco-looks(even John Abraham is facing the heat!).He will have to work on his expressions,and can be highly successful in roles tailor-made for him.
SUPPORTING CAST - Ratna Pathak Shah was superb in the role of imran's mom.The lead couple's gang of frndz and their respective love interests,all played their part with adequacy.Naseeruddin Shah was excellent.Performances of Paresh Raval and Prateek Babber were also noteworthy.The cameo by khan brothers was pretty humorous.
MUSIC - The music was really soothing,providing a congenial environment for the friendship of imran and genelia to blossom into love.The tracks blend well with the scenes,adding to the pace of the movie.I liked the background score too! My favorite track was Kabhi-Kabhi.....lovely no.!
What I liked about the movie:
Almost everything!!!!! The relations between different characters are portrayed so naturally...it hardly appears we're watching a 70 mm flick. The bonding between genelia and her bro and that between imran and his mom,the ego of sushant,the pain of meghna....all executed in almost a complete non-filmy way!
What I didn't like about the movie:
It has to be the climax........the flick was almost perfect except for the drowsy, seen-it-a-million- times climax.Imran bypassing the high security area of airport with no-one firing a bullet at him,screaming "Meow" before crooning "Jaane tu..." in a K.L.Saigal baritone....it was a bit too filmy!!!
