Lara Dutta in an anti-tobacco thriller

Ad filmmaker turned director Soorjit Sarcar whose directorial debut Yahaan starring Jimmy Shergill will hit the theatres by July end has already planned his next venture. His next film for the Percept Picture Company titled Amarjeet is a thriller based on the tobacco industry. Lara Dutta will play the central character and two other male leads are to be finalized for the film.
But Sarcars's script against the tobacco trade comes at a time when a ban has been imposed on the onscreen portrayal of smoking by the movie characters. And a movie like this will surely demand characters puffing cigarettes in it. So how is Sarcar going to help himself?
Sarcar says that they will make a special appeal to the government stating that Amarjeet is an issue-based cinema dealing with the very cause of tobacco. The filmmaker is also quite positive that the government will permit certain characters in his film to smoke as an exceptional case.
